RALLY & PRESS CONFERENCE IN WHEATFIELD
We will gather at the proposed site of the dehydration station to show Western NY stands together to say NO to National Fuel’s proposed Northern Access Pipeline
We have worked for months to connect the pieces of National Fuel’s proposed Northern Access 2016 Pipeline scattered throughout Western NY. We have found residents in Pendleton and Wheatfield spending endless hours and energy to protect their neighborhoods and families from the dangers of compressor and dehydration stations. We have found residents in Elma unaware of the significant expansion of a compressor just feet away from their homes.
All along the the 97 miles of pipeline are stories of farmers and landowners being threatened by National Fuel with eminent domain proceedings. We see grave threats to our precious waterways all through the beautiful landscape of WNY as this project would cross 180 streams and 270 wetlands before the fracked gas makes its way under the Niagara River and into Canada.
TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE AS DECISIONS COULD BE MADE THIS FALL WE NEED YOU!
IT IS TIME TO STAND TOGETHER, SUPPORT EACH OTHER AND SAY:
We will come together to call on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Governor Cuomo, and the NY State Department of Environmental Conservation to say NO to this project. This project is solely for the profit of National Fuel. There is no need and necessity for this project that warrants endangering our communities, our precious water, air and natural environment.

RALLY: Stop a Fracked Gas Pipeline - Preserve Waterways and Wetlands
Stop the Northern Access 2016 Pipeline
WHAT: Rally at National Fuel Headquarters
WHEN: Wednesday, July 27, 3pm - 6pm
WHERE: 6363 Main St., Williamsville
The Pendleton Action Team and the Sierra Club Niagara Group are joining up to fight the building of a 96 mile fracked gas pipeline, compressor and dehydration stations proposed by National Fuel for Western NY.
Earlier this year, NYS DEC officials rejected the Constitution Pipeline Project, citing damage that it would do to water supplies along the pipeline route.
On that basis alone, the proposed Northern Access Project should not be permitted since it would cross 180 streams, 270 wetlands and 7 ponds in Cattaraugus, Allegany, and Erie Counties.
To add insult to potential injury, the gas would not only cross the Niagara River, it will be exported to Canada.
Furthermore, we need to incentivize infrastructure for Clean, Renewable Energy, not for dirty fossil fuels that cause carbon pollution and global warming.
Check out the Pendleton Action Team on Facebook for more information.
Visit niagarasierraclub.com for info on our next meeting in August.
Information on the proposed pipeline and associated infrastructure can be found at National Fuel.

RALLY: Save Times Beach Nature Preserve - Saturday, 12:30pm
The Friends of Times Beach Nature Preserve have an urgent Rally scheduled for this Saturday, 12:30pm, at Times Beach Nature Preserve [Map].
The WNY Environmental Alliance (WNYEA) has adopted a set of principles focused on Outer Harbor development that can be found at the GrowWNY Website: Click "Covering the Outer Harbor".
The Final Plan for the Outer Harbor will probably be released early next week without further public comment. We have been informed that the final plan will be as presented at the ECHDC (Erie County Harbor Development Corporation) open house two weeks ago. It shows the development of a new "neighborhood" surrounding Times Beach Nature Preserve, including Wilkeson Pointe, the popular wind-sculpture Park built with Public Funding last year.
We want a Nature Preserve, NOT a Condo compound.
We want Public Parks, NOT Private Residences.
We need your help and support to demonstrate public opposition and support of the WNYEA principles. Please consider attending the Friends of Times Beach Nature Preserve's Rally on this Saturday at Times Beach starting at 12:30 [Map].
Bring signs, your voices, and come to learn about, talk about, and participate in what options we have left.
For more information and links, Click Here.

Please share this with friends and ask them to Bring Signs!

Broad-Based WNY Coalition Urges Sen. Grisanti to Support Fracking Ban
By Rita Yelda ~
Buffalo, NY – Concerned Buffalo residents joined community leaders, business owners and representatives from consumer, environmental and social justice groups today at a rally in support of a statewide ban on the highly controversial practice of hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking.”
The rally targeted State Senator Mark Grisanti, chair of the Senate Environmental Conservation Committee, who has yet to publicly support a ban on fracking in New York.
A broad-based array of community members gathered at Sen. Grisanti’s office to present the senator with 1,766 petition signatures from local residents and 102 letters from local organizations and businesses. Senator Grisanti was specifically urged to co-sponsor SB4220 and bring it up for a vote, as the bill has been languishing in his committee since last year. The bill would stop the NY Department of Environmental Conservation from issuing permits to allow drilling in the state. The rally came nine days before the end of the legislative session.
"In spite of overwhelming evidence that fracking cannot be done safely, the Senate has refused to act on legislation to protect New Yorkers from this dangerous, polluting practice. As the legislative session draws to a close, our elected officials need to know that their inaction will not go unnoticed," said Rita Yelda, organizer with Food & Water Watch.
"By ignoring his constituents and constituent groups, the senator is siding with influential oil and gas companies. Today I hope the Senator sees that we're sending the strong message that we all value our vital water resources and will not allow the oil and gas industry to risk these resources," added Jim Anderson, Vice President of the State Board for Citizen Action NY.
